Florence’s Artisan Chocolate Fair is back in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, where top chocolatiers display the art of chocolate making. From February 8 to 17, forty selected Italian and foreign chocolatiers show and sell their delicacies. This event is not only a simple market but the numerous side events during the 10 days of the expo make it alive and open to the public. Meetings, cooking classes, maitres chocolatiers live for getting to know the various uses and wonders of chocolate. Restaurants in Florence will have in their menus special dishes made of chocolate.

Last Saturday we tried about ten different types from the traditional dark and milk one to the strawberries covered by a fountain of melting chocolate. This year I have been raped by the white chocolate with little wild berries and “amarene“, a variety of cherries. I could not resist to buy a personal sample of 300gr to go….No better companion during these long afternoons of preparation for Pontormo’s upcoming exhibition!
By the seems I will have to go back soon to the fair because I have only got a little bite left!
