SLOW ART DAY 2015 – GHIRLANDAIO’S LAST SUPPER

Are you ready for emotional experimentation? When you enter a museum you usually walk around with the nose up, enjoying with curiosity the atmosphere of the place and watching most of the well known highlights. What would happen if you had to stop in front of an artwork in silence, hear yourself, feel your reactions and keep on observing for other 7 minutes?

WHAT IS SLOW ART DAY?

Slow Art Day is an international event that encourages people to slow down and really enter into the world of art, with calm. More than 160 venues worldwide have joined the movement this year to invite people to explore art with a totally different perspective. In a world that moves fast, technology evolves quickly, relations change here you have the chance to stop time. Viewers become a key point invited to look at only a few artworks, very slowly. It is not a matter of pure “learning”, SLOW ART DAY is motion and emotion, feeling and perception. Maybe not every piece will enthusiasm you, and exactly for this you may hear yourself and ask yourself why, what hits you most, is there any detail you like or which disturbs you. If you examine an artwork closely, with a few set of questions to consider, you will soon learn more about the work just from the visual information that it provides. It does not matter if you know the painter, the history behind the artwork: the viewer becomes involved simply by standing, offering open eyes, heart and mindfulness. Later on, sharing what you have experienced with other people is a curious and interesting exercise.
